My father Tony Burleton passed away at Northwick Hospital yesterday, March 23rd 2016 at the age of 90 years and 9 months. He flew the DC3, possibly twin-otters as well, he was also a co-pilot on the Friendships when he first joined E.A.A. I was looking at some of his papers not too long ago where he received a letter thanking him for his training of some co-pilots. He would have been with E.A.A. around 1966 to 1972. I saw a video of him at a reunion not too long ago, he looked to be one of the older ones there, I am sure there must be some of you who remember him.
I went on a few of his flights, sitting in the cockpit on the jump seat, I am guessing that would not be done these days! I stayed at the Kilimanjaro hotel a few times and remember a great trip to Serengeti where we landed in the game park, my friend Kim Fitzsimmons (Jim Fitzsimmons) was with us. Many evenings at the Agip, Dambusters, Brunners, Impala Club and Long Bar. A very different place to grow up for sure. I have not been back since we left in the 70's and am guessing it would be very different now!
Many thanks to messages of condolence,
Theresa (Burleton) Bova and family.
